Remote Learning Highlights

At McGehee and Little Gate, an ideal learning environment features brick and mortar classrooms, collaboration between students and faculty, as well as encouragement and guidance from teachers and support staff. We have been given the opportunity to consider what a virtual education can look like, and we now know what that looks like for our students. Over the past few weeks, we have observed student, faculty and parents engaging in remote learning experiences. To that end, members of the school community have compiled a website to showcase this across all divisions – Early Childhood to Upper School. This site not only provides a snapshot of all of the creative ways that our educators and students are engaging in remote learning and additional resources for parents, students, caregivers and educators, but also provides resources for mental wellness, reducing stress, talking with your child about COVID-19, and health and fitness ideas. There are messages from our students, ways to help, and stories about our community outreach during this global crisis. This site will be used in conjunction with our virtual tour by our admissions team to provide a peek “in to” classrooms for prospective parents. It will also be used internally to promote our efforts in remote learning to our current parents.
