As independent schools move to online learning, the role of department heads and the relationships we foster with those in our department, as well as our students, are of the utmost importance. We must remain the bridge between the endeavors in our classrooms and the higher-level administrative team. The herculean effort required to quickly start teaching and learning online is one thing, but maintaining the fidelity of our programs is another. Department heads have a key role to play in this process because we are, after all, in a dual role as teachers and leaders. Attached are a few strategies that will help department heads to successfully sustain their programming in an online environment.
